An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Principal Associate / Legal Director with 8+ years PQE to join our Real Estate team in Leeds. The role focuses on development and investment work across various property sectors, supporting clients through every stage of the development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert legal advice on complex property development and investment projects, including industrial, office, logistics, retail and residential sectors.
  • Advise on the full development lifecycle from conditional land acquisition and pre‑let agreements, through to forward funding, construction contracting and the disposal of completed investments.
  • Support the borrowing process and structure forward funding arrangements for clients.
  • Deliver strategic, commercially sound and legally robust advice to clients, ensuring clear communication and effective negotiation.
  • Collaborate with specialists in planning, environmental law, real estate tax, construction and banking to manage risk and navigate complex development challenges.
  • Help clients achieve strategic objectives while maintaining compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years PQE in commercial real estate law with a focus on development and investment.
  • Strong understanding of the full development lifecycle and related legal processes.
  • Solid foundation in real estate law, including acquisition, finance, construction and disposal.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and problem‑solving skills.
  • Proactive approach to delivering strategic advice and supporting client outcomes.
