We’re excited to be partnered with a leading infrastructure organisation shaping and they’re growing their ecology team at all levels. Whether you’re an experienced Principal Ecologist or an emerging Field Ecologist with a couple of years’ experience, they are looking for ecologists of all levels to develop their in-house ecology function which is part of an expanding team of environmental specialists. You’ll work on diverse, high-impact projects across the UK - protecting habitats, enhancing biodiversity, and ensuring environmental excellence is embedded across major infrastructure schemes.
What you’ll be doing:
- Delivering Ecological Expertise – Provide consultancy services to manage ecological risks and unlock opportunities across varied infrastructure projects
- Getting Hands-On in the Field – Carry out habitat and species surveys, ECoW duties, and on-site ecological support across diverse environments
- Shaping Sustainable Outcomes – Contribute to impact assessments, licensing, mitigation strategies, and Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) delivery
- Collaborating Across Teams – Work closely with design, construction, and operational teams to embed ecology into every stage of delivery
- Building a Growing Function – Play a key role in developing an in-house ecology capability within a fast-expanding environmental team
Who they’re looking for:
- Ecology Experience at Any Level – From early-career field ecologists to senior leaders ready to shape strategy and delivery
- Field & Technical Skills – Experience in habitat classification, protected species surveys, BNG assessments, and report writing
- Knowledgeable & Practical – Solid understanding of UK ecological legislation, policy, and best practice
- Adaptable & Proactive – Comfortable working in fast-paced environments, managing priorities, and communicating effectively across teams
- Mobile & Flexible – Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel, with occasional overnight stays as needed
