We are seeking an experienced Site Agent / Site Engineer with strong electrical expertise to support the construction phase of the Bridgwater Tidal Barrier, specifically the build of the barrier gates and associated infrastructure. The role will work closely with major civils and M&E contractor and MEICA subcontractors on a high-profile flood defence scheme.

Key Responsibilities

  • Electrical & HV/LV Responsibilities β€” Fully conversant with HV transformer connections and DNO LV incomer cabling.
  • Temporary electrical supplies β€” Act as the responsible person to sign off temporary electrical supplies, including tower cranes and other site utilities.
  • Transformer and distribution β€” Sign off transformer connections and Sub-Main Distribution Board (SMDB) installations.
  • Design & Technical Review β€” Collaborate with MEICA subcontractor electrical engineers to review containment designs and cable pull-in plans. Review and validate cable ducting layouts, chambers, and design drawings.
  • Commissioning & SAT β€” Oversee the commissioning and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) of barrier equipment, focusing on: Temporary electrical supplies; On-site power and automation interfaces.
  • Permanents switch-over β€” Manage commissioning and SAT during permanent switch-over to DNO supply, troubleshooting any resulting issues.

Requirements

  • Experience β€” Strong background as a Site Agent, Site Engineer, Electrical Engineer, or similar.
  • HV/LV installation β€” Proven experience with HV/LV installation and sign-off responsibility.
  • Desirable β€” Previous involvement in MEICA, utilities, infrastructure, water, or major civils projects is highly desirable.
  • Coordination β€” Ability to coordinate between civils and M&E disciplines on complex infrastructure works.
  • Technical review β€” Competent with reviewing technical drawings and ensuring compliance with project standards.
