Shirley Parsons are supporting a leading engineering and manufacturing organisation within the defence sector to recruit an NDT Technician (Welding Biased) to join a growing Technical Quality team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced NDT professional looking to work on highly complex, safety-critical engineering products within a heavy engineering environment. The role offers exposure to a wide variety of inspection activities across weldments, forgings, machined components, pipework and fabricated structures, supporting major long-term defence programmes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI), Dye Penetrant Inspection (DPI) and Visual Inspection activities across a range of engineering products.
- Conduct visual welding inspections and dimensional verification against engineering drawings and industry standards
- Analyse inspection results, identify defects and document findings accurately
- Raise and support the investigation of non-conformances and quality issues
- Work closely with welding, engineering and quality teams to maintain the highest standards of product quality and compliance.
- Support quality control and inspection activities relating to welding, fabrication and non-destructive testing operations.
What we're looking for:
- Minimum, experience in ISO 9001:2015 or equivalent Management systems
- PCN Level 2 (Minimum), Sector 2, Method 21 - MPI (Pre and in-service inspection),
- Knowledge of welding processes (TIG, MAG, FCAW, MCAW),
- Able to interpret complex fabrication drawings and welding symbols,
- Familiar with BS EN ISO 15614-1, BS EN ISO 15614-6 (Welding procedure qualification),
- Familiar with BS EN ISO 9606-1 (Welder qualification)
