We are seeking an experienced and driven Environment Director to join a dynamic and forward-thinking organisation operating at the forefront of sustainability and innovation. With responsibilities spanning multiple European sites, this is a pivotal role that will shape the future of Environmental compliance across the business as well as positively influencing best practice in health and safety.
The Role:
As the Environmental Director, you will provide strategic leadership and technical expertise to ensure the organisation’s operations meet the highest standards of safety and environmental compliance. Reporting to the Chief Sustainability Officer, you will work closely with site leaders and external stakeholders to develop, implement, and maintain robust management systems that drive continual improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead with Impact: Shape and drive the organisation’s environmental strategy, ensuring it supports business growth while meeting regulatory and sustainability targets.
- Champion Compliance & Best Practice: Maintain and enhance ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and ISO 9001 management systems, ensuring seamless compliance across European operations.
- Influence at Every Level: Engage with regulators, customers, and supply chain partners, shaping policies, securing compliance, and positioning the business as an industry leader.
- Expand & Innovate: Oversee environmental compliance across existing UK, Germany, and France sites, while driving the environmental agenda for the new Solutions site in Spain.
About You:
- You are a strategic environmental leader with experience in waste management, oil & gas, mining, or chemical manufacturing.
- You possess deep knowledge of environmental permitting, hazardous processes, and European regulatory frameworks.
- You understand the risks, particularly fire hazards associated with battery waste and hazardous materials and know how to mitigate them.
- You influence & drive change across multi-site, international operations, engaging stakeholders at all levels.
