An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to join a leading main contractor on a major construction project in Bridgwater, Somerset.
This is a site-based role supporting the delivery of a high-profile project, working closely with operational teams to ensure the highest standards of health, safety, and compliance are maintained throughout the construction lifecycle.
The Role
Reporting into the Health & Safety Manager, you will be responsible for:
- Providing proactive health & safety support to site management teams.
- Conducting site inspections, audits, and safety tours.
- Ensuring compliance with current HSE legislation and company procedures.
- Supporting investigations into incidents, near misses, and accidents.
- Delivering toolbox talks, safety briefings, and workforce engagement activities.
- Reviewing risk assessments, method statements, and safe systems of work.
- Building strong relationships with subcontractors and site teams to drive a positive safety culture.
- Monitoring project performance and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a Health & Safety Advisor position within construction, civil engineering, or major project environments.
- NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent as a minimum.
- Strong understanding of UK health & safety legislation.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to influence and engage personnel at all levels.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
- NEBOSH Construction Certificate.
- Membership of IOSH (TechIOSH/GradIOSH).
- Experience working for a main contractor on large-scale construction projects.
