Based in County Cork - Hybrid role with Regional travel. Leading Industrial Manufacturing business, part of a wider UK&I organisation.

Job Overview: As the Health & Safety Manager in the Cork region, you will be responsible for providing professional management of the Health & Safety function across a number of plants, ensuring full legislative compliance through practical implementation, and improved standards throughout the company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and instil a positive Health and Safety culture within the team in their thinking and actions.
  • Ensure compliance with all current legislation in relation to H&S in the workplace, and provide updates on legislation and regulations, and their implementation.
  • Coordinate the development and implementation of best practice procedures and policies.
  • Assist with and implement H&S Procedures, ensuring that new procedures and/or practices are developed to prevent the same or similar accidents.
  • Advise on the implementation of H&S Systems within the region.
  • Ensure that Company H&S employees are carrying procedures in compliance with the relevant management systems.
  • Carry out in-depth monthly audits, reporting on actions required to the MD, and reporting on progress to audit actions.
  • Ensure that subcontractors are made aware of the Company's Plan and the requirement for project-specific safety statements before appointment.
  • Review, revise and update documentation in light of subcontractors' information, the progress of work, the receipt of new design information and the occurrence of incidents or accidents.
  • Implement the Plan and monitor the compliance of employees and subcontractors.

Education, Experience & Competencies:

  • Qualification in a relevant subject related to industrial Health and Safety Management.
  • At least 5 years management experience in a similar compliance-based role.
  • Demonstrate the investigation, planning and implementation of compliance systems, preferably ISO45001.
  • The ability to develop systems which meet the standards expected by external accreditation bodies.
  • Up to date with new legislation and maintain a working knowledge of all Health and Safety legislation and any developments that affect our industry.
