Location: Thorns Collegiate Academy

Salary: BAND E, SCP 18–25 (£31,537 – £36,363 per annum pro rata) Actual Salary £17,923 – £20,836

Hours: 3 days a week, term time + 3 weeks

We require an enthusiastic, hard‑working and compassionate individual to join our award‑winning SEND Department. We are looking for a SEMH Intervention Manager who will lead and develop targeted support for students with social, emotional and mental health needs, helping them to access learning successfully and thrive within school. A successful candidate will be joining a team led by an experienced SENCO and supported by a close‑knit Inclusion team. The Department has been on a transformational journey over the past four years and this has been recognised through the achievement of the SENDIA Award.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and support students with SEMH needs, plan and deliver targeted interventions, and oversee the day‑to‑day running of the SEMH intervention space to ensure it is purposeful, calm and responsive to student need.
  • Deliver targeted wellbeing provision including nurture approaches, social skills development, break and lunch support, and in‑class guidance for students presenting with anxiety, dysregulation and behavioural needs.
  • Support the completion of EHCP applications and annual reviews for students with SEMH needs, maintain accurate records, track intervention impact and use assessment information to evaluate student progress over time.
  • Build positive relationships with families, act as a key worker for identified students, and liaise with external agencies and professionals to secure appropriate support, referrals and provision for young people with SEMH needs.
  • Work closely with the SENCo and Inclusion team, contribute to departmental meetings, support staff through advice and CPD, attend restorative conversations and assist with the day‑to‑day running of the Inclusion Department.

Qualifications

  • Have experience working with students with SEMH and SEND needs.
  • Have a working knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and safeguarding practice.
  • Be highly organised and able to manage a varied workload.
  • Be able to work in partnership with families and outside agencies.
  • Be able to inspire, motivate and support vulnerable students.
  • Demonstrate a passion for improving outcomes for young people.
  • Be proficient in the use of technology and able to maintain accurate intervention records.
