Join the Shire of York as our new Museum Assistant and help bring local history to life for our community and visitors. Working closely with the Museum Curator, you’ll support exhibitions, care for collections, and provide friendly, informative service to everyone who walks through our doors. This role includes weekend and public holiday work and plays an important part in promoting York’s rich heritage and tourism offering.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the Museum is open and staffed during all advertised hours, including weekends and public holidays.
  • Assist the Curator with exhibition research, preparation, and installation.
  • Support the ongoing care, maintenance, and documentation of the Museum’s collection.
  • Provide friendly, informative customer service to all visitors.
  • Undertake general administrative duties, including cash handling, reconciliation, and data entry.
  • Promote the Shire of York’s heritage attractions, tourism facilities, and sites of interest.

Remuneration

The salary for the position is offered in accordance with Level 3 of the Shire of York Inside Staff Industrial Agreement 2025 ($72,404.32 - $75,993.02) pro rata. Placement within the range will be determined by the applicant’s age, skills and experience.
