About the Role:

In this role, you will assist with the planning, design, delivery and oversight of the Shire’s capital works and maintenance programs. You will work closely with contractors, internal staff, government agencies and community stakeholders to ensure quality, safety and compliance across all projects.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Support delivery of civil engineering projects from planning to completion.
  • Assist with project and contract management, procurement and documentation.
  • Prepare engineering drawings, designs, estimates and technical reports.
  • Conduct asset inspections, minor survey work and collect field data.
  • Contribute to feasibility assessments and long-term infrastructure planning.
  • Maintain mapping, plans, records and project documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with WHS, environmental standards and relevant legislation.
  • Build effective working relationships with contractors, agencies and local residents.

Qualifications and/or Training:

  • Current Construction Induction Card (White/Blue Card).
  • Tertiary qualification (degree, diploma, or associate diploma) in Civil Engineering, Engineering Surveying, or Drafting, or substantial demonstrated equivalent experience.
  • Applicable plant and machinery competency licences, such as truck operation licences and earthmoving machinery certificates (e.g., loaders, excavators, graders).
  • Industry-based technical training relevant to the role, including computer-aided drafting courses (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D).
  • Post-graduate or advanced technical engineering studies.
  • Main Roads WA traffic management accreditation.
  • Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety.
  • Training or experience in Local Government infrastructure asset management systems.
  • Accredited supervisory or contemporary staff management training.
