An opportunity has arisen for a suitably skilled applicant to join the school as a Food Technology Technician, to primarily support teaching within the Technology Department with special focus on Food Preparation and Nutrition. Experience in this type of role is advantageous, but not a pre-requisite.
Job type: Permanent, part time during term time. Working hours: 25 hours per week during term time (approx. 35 weeks per year). Exact hours may vary and will be discussed on appointment. Start date: as soon as possible.
All staff are expected to contribute to the thriving extra-curricular programme on offer at the School.
Key responsibilities include:- Supporting teaching staff and students in practical lessons in Food Preparation and Nutrition.
- Setting up equipment and materials competently and efficiently within a set timeframe.
- Shopping for or ordering materials and equipment.
- Keeping track of stock and orders.
- Tidying and cleaning the food preparation areas.
- General assistance that allows teachers to deliver lessons smoothly.
- Maintaining the ethos of the department by reducing, reusing, and recycling.
Candidates should have excellent organisational and time‑management skills, be environmentally aware, and be willing to acquire knowledge of health and safety legislation and risk assessment in collaboration with the school. Prior teaching experience and a background in food technology are desirable but not required.
Salary will be commensurate with the post and will depend on qualifications and experience.
