Shine A Light is a community-driven charity dedicated to supporting children with cancer and their families through meaningful outreach, events, and initiatives. We run a vibrant charity shop and café in Rugby that not only raises vital funds for our work but also serves as a welcoming hub for our community.
We’re looking for a passionate and driven Charity Shop Manager & Volunteer Coordinator to lead our charity shop and café operations. This is a unique opportunity to combine retail and hospitality management with community engagement and volunteer leadership. You’ll oversee daily shop and café activities, lead a dedicated team of staff and volunteers, and help grow our impact through innovative fundraising events and local partnerships.
Your Key Responsibilities Will Include:
- Driving sales and profitability through creative merchandising, excellent customer service, and stock management.
- Managing the café to ensure high standards of hygiene, safety, and quality service.
- Recruiting, training and inspiring a diverse team of volunteers who support all aspects of our operations.
- Creating and delivering engaging fundraising events and community initiatives.
- Maintaining a safe, inclusive, and positive working environment for all staff and volunteers.
- Promoting Shine a Light's mission throughout the local area to increase visibility, donations, and volunteer engagement.
What we’re looking for:
- Experience in retail or charity shop management, ideally with café or hospitality experience.
- A natural people leader with strong interpersonal and team development skills.
- Skilled in volunteer recruitment, training, and retention.
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities.
- A creative thinker with a passion for community engagement and charity work.
- Experienced in overseeing charity finances - from budgeting and stock control to producing clear, accurate reports that support informed decision making.
- Knowledge of (or willingness to learn) food hygiene and health & safety procedures.
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed.
