A lovingly restored Grade II listed Georgian manor house on a 500-acre estate in the Devon countryside, with uninterrupted views of rolling hills, gardens, farmland and woodland, and walks to explore. We are seeking a motivated Commis Chef to join our kitchen team at Shilstone House. Your main responsibility is to support the Head Chef and Sous Chef in delivering high-quality dishes to our guests. You will assist in food preparation, cooking, and maintaining the highest standards of hygiene and presentation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare ingredients and assist with basic cooking tasks
  • Follow recipes and instructions accurately
  • Ensure food is presented beautifully and consistently
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of your workstation
  • Follow all health, safety, and hygiene regulations
  • Support the kitchen team during busy service periods
  • Receive and store deliveries correctly
  • Assist in monitoring stock levels and reducing waste
Skills & Experience:
  • Some experience in a professional kitchen (preferred but not essential)
  • Willingness to learn and develop culinary skills
  • Team player with good communication skills
  • Punctual, reliable, and trustworthy
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Passion for food, cooking, and delivering excellent dining experiences
Additional Information:
  • Your own transport is essential as we are not on any bus routes
  • Be ready to start March/April
Pay & Benefits:
  • 25-40 hours per week Wednesday - Sunday
  • £14 to £16 per hour (dependent on age and experience)
