A lovingly restored Grade II listed Georgian manor house on a 500-acre estate in the Devon countryside, with uninterrupted views of the rolling hills and fields, acres of gardens, farmland and woodland, and walks to explore.

Shilstone is a family estate where a passion for restoration and architecture combines with a love for food, drinks and entertaining. Just outside the charming village of Modbury Shilstone is a place for people to come together with great company, and enjoy delicious food and drinks in a wonderful setting.

The Role
We are looking for a detail-oriented Food Runner to join our front-of-house team. As the vital link between the kitchen and the dining area, you will ensure that every dish reaches the guest promptly, accurately, and beautifully presented. If you thrive in a high-energy environment and love being part of a team that delivers exceptional service, we would love to meet you.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Quickly deliver food from kitchen to tables
  • Ensure orders are complete, accurate, and presented correctly
  • Assist servers by clearing tables and resetting them
  • Communicate between kitchen and front-of-house staff
  • Refill water and assist with guest needs when required
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in service areas
  • Support overall service flow during busy times

Skills & Experience:

  • Previous experience in hospitality or customer service preferred
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Strong communication and multitasking skills
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Physical stamina to stand and move for extended periods
  • Positive attitude and professional appearance
  • Have a genuine passion for food and beverage

Additional Information:

  • Your own transport is essential as we are not on any bus routes
  • 7-25 hours per week – Sundays 10am-5pm (evening openings in the pipeline)
  • Up to £12.25 per hour (dependant on age and experience) with tips.
  • 50% off in the Café and Restaurant for you and a guest
  • Delicious staff meals on shift for those working during food service
  • Refer a Friend scheme, if they join the team, you’ll get a thank-you bonus
  • Team members in certain roles will get the chance to visit our local suppliers, to learn more about the produce we use
  • Team socials every couple of months
  • Use of the pool on selected team-only dates throughout the year
  • A share of the service charge is distributed across relevant teams
  • Regular training is provided to develop skills and experience.
