Shilstone House is a country estate in South Devon. Located in the courtyard, our Café offers a seasonal menu led by what’s available from the gardens and local growers.
The Role
We are seeking a reliable and energetic Café Assistant Manager to support the day-to-day running of our café. Working closely with the Café Manager, you will help lead the team, ensure excellent customer service, and maintain smooth operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in overseeing daily Café operations and staff management
- Support and motivate team members to deliver exceptional service
- Handle customer inquiries and resolve complaints professionally
- Help with staff training, shift planning, and performance monitoring
- Maintain cleanliness, food safety, and hygiene standards
- Monitor stock levels
- Ensure consistent product quality and presentation
- Take responsibility for opening and closing procedures as needed
Skills & Experience:
- Previous experience in a supervisory or team leader role, preferably in a café or food service setting
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and lead by example
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards
- Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays
Additional Information:
- Your own transport is essential as we are not on any public transport routes
- 30-40 hours per week – Wednesday – Sunday
- Up to £13-£14 per hour (dependant on age and experience) with tips
