Shillito Group is looking for an experienced Operations Manager to lead a specialist manufacturing department within a fast paced engineering environment. This role is responsible for the safe and efficient day to day running of the department, ensuring production, quality and operational targets are achieved. The successful candidate will lead and develop a skilled team while driving high standards across safety, performance and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operations and Production: Manage daily departmental operations to ensure production targets, quality standards and delivery schedules are achieved. Work closely with planning and support functions to maintain efficient workflow and minimise disruption. Monitor operational performance and identify opportunities to improve productivity and efficiency.
  • Safety and Quality: Maintain high standards of health, safety and environmental compliance throughout the department. Ensure operational procedures and quality standards are followed consistently. Support investigations and corrective actions relating to safety or quality issues.
  • Leadership and Team Management: Lead, motivate and develop the departmental team within a performance focused environment. Manage day to day people responsibilities including training, attendance and performance management. Promote a positive working culture built around accountability, teamwork and professionalism.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, efficiency and cost control. Support wider business objectives through strong operational leadership and performance management.

Skills and Experience

  • Previous experience within manufacturing, engineering, industrial processing or heavy industry.
  • Experience managing teams within a technical production environment.
  • Strong understanding of operational management, health and safety and continuous improvement principles.
  • Good communication, organisation and problem solving skills.
  • Technical or engineering qualifications would be advantageous.
