We are recruiting for an innovative, R&D focussed manufacturer, looking for a driven and ambitious Mechanical Fitter. This high technology business is developing new mechanical and electrical technologies and is an export success story.

- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and instructions
- Ability to operate manual machine tools preferred but not mandatory
- IT skills (MS Office β Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel as a minimum)

Responsibilities
- Machine builds; materials delivery to ready-for-test stage from engineering drawings
- Small-batch production - builds, fitting, and assembly
- Prototype builds
- Build readiness β supporting design for manufacture, build processes, quality and safety
- Control of build quality β inspection of dimensions and characteristics
- Development and recording of manufacturing knowledge to support continuous improvement
- Support of Stores function (control of incoming materials and production orders)
- Recording of day-to-day activities β route cards and time sheets
- General maintenance tasks for an efficient, safe and clean workshop environment
Qualifications
- BTEC Level 3 or equivalent
- Experience of prototyping
- Experience of small batch manufacturing/production environment
- Involvement in the manufacture of electrical or rotating machines is desirable
- Experience of lean manufacturing environment is desirable
- Experience of winding/impregnation/assembly of high strength magnets is desirable

Pay range and compensation package
General information: Working hours (35 hour week): 7.30am-4pm Monday to Thursday, 7.30am to 11.30am Friday. Company pension, 25 days paid holiday plus.
