About Us
Quay Commercial is a specialist contractor delivering certified fire door installation, fire door maintenance and passive fire protection services across the UK. We work with blue-chip clients and major public venues, with an excellent reputation for quality, compliance and customer service.
Following a sustained period of growth, we are looking to appoint an experienced Operations Director to work alongside the Managing Director and lead the operational delivery of the business. This is a key strategic appointment with the opportunity to influence the future direction of the company and play a central role in its continued growth.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day operational management of the business, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, profitably and to the highest quality standards. You will lead our project delivery teams, develop operational systems and processes, improve commercial performance and help expand our recurring maintenance division. Over time, you will become the operational leader of the business, allowing the Managing Director to focus on strategic growth, customer relationships and business development.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the operational performance of the business.
- Manage project managers, office staff and site teams.
- Drive continuous improvement across all operational processes.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and to exceptional quality standards.
- Improve planning, resource allocation and operational reporting.
- Develop KPIs and management reporting to support business growth.
- Support commercial decision-making and contract delivery.
- Work closely with the Managing Director to implement the company's strategic growth plans.
- Help develop and expand recurring inspection and maintenance contracts.
- Maintain the highest standards of health & safety, compliance and customer satisfaction.
About You
We're looking for someone who has:
- Senior operational leadership experience within construction, specialist contracting, fire protection or a related sector.
- A proven track record of improving operational efficiency and profitability.
- Strong people management and leadership skills.
- Commercial awareness with an understanding of project financial performance.
- Experience developing systems, processes and scalable operational structures.
- Excellent communication and client relationship skills.
- A hands-on approach with the ability to make sound decisions quickly.
- Experience within passive fire protection or fire doors would be advantageous but is not essential for the right candidate.
