We’re Shift Studios, a small but experienced digital agency that builds seriously good Shopify experiences for ambitious brands. We care a lot about our craft, we move quickly, and we genuinely enjoy the work we do. We’re growing, and we’re looking for a mid-level Shopify Developer to join us full-time. If you love building things that look great and work even better, you’ll fit right in.
The role involves being the developer behind a range of Shopify builds and optimisations — working across custom theme development and store tech support. You’ll collaborate closely with our designers and project leads, and you’ll have real ownership of the work you take on. This is a fully remote role, open to anyone based in the UK. We’re a remote team that come together to collaborate around client work or celebrate our wins.
Day to day, you’ll be:
- Building and customising Shopify themes using Liquid, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- Turning Figma designs into polished, responsive and performant front-end code
- Integrating third-party apps, APIs, and the Shopify Storefront API
- Keeping stores fast, accessible, and conversion-friendly
- Working with the team via Slack, Git, and the odd Figma comment
- Occasionally getting a hand from Claude to speed things up
- Looking after existing client stores — new features, improvements, fixes
What we’re looking for:
- 2–4 years of Shopify development experience
- Solid web development, HTML, CSS, JavaScript and Liquid skills
- Hands-on experience with Shopify 2.0 themes (sections, blocks, the works)
- Comfort working with Git and collaborative code workflows
- A good eye for detail and a genuine care for quality
- The ability to work independently and communicate clearly in a remote setup
Bonus points for:
- Previous agency experience
- Experience with Shopify Hydrogen or headless commerce builds
- Familiarity with React or Next.js
- Back-end or Node.js experience
- Shopify Plus knowledge (scripts, flow, checkout customisations)
- Experience optimising for Core Web Vitals, site performance testing and SEO + GEO
- Fluent in Claude and dabbled in Agentification
The good stuff:
- £30,000 - £45,000 depending on experience
- Fully remote - work from home, a café, wherever
- On-site sessions and sprints every 3 months at a neutral location, all expenses paid
- 28 days holiday
