To provide expert Environmental Health consultancy across Food Safety, Fire Safety, Health & Safety and Licensing, supporting clients to manage risk, maintain compliance and drive continuous improvement. The role acts as a trusted technical advisor, responding to client queries, supporting investigations, interpreting legal requirements and providing clear, practical guidance that enables clients to take timely and effective action.

The role also supports the successful use of RiskProof and associated services by providing implementation oversight and supervisory support when required, including assisting with onboarding, data migration, system setup, training, workstack visibility, issue resolution and coordination for complex projects where additional technical or operational input is needed.

By combining technical expertise with proactive client support, data insight and flexible implementation supervision, the EHP Consultant helps improve safety performance, strengthen client confidence and deliver a consistent, high-quality customer experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert technical advice on Food, Health & Safety, Fire Safety and Licensing via RiskProof and telephone, ensuring queries are resolved promptly and accurately.
  • Support clients with internal investigations, including accidents, foreign body and allergen cases, and determine RIDDOR reporting requirements.
  • Investigate food poisoning allegations by liaising with clients and complainants, analysing questionnaires and evidence, and advising on corrective actions.
  • Review and advise on clients’ Food Safety, Health & Safety and Fire Safety Management Systems, including risk assessments and due diligence documentation.
  • Create action plans to support clients in preparation for Food Hygiene Rating System (FHRS) re-rate visits and, where appropriate, coordinate with EHP auditors.
  • Review and analyse client data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement, and produce clear, actionable reports for clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Proactively flag and communicate critical or imminent risks to clients, ensuring timely escalation and support for urgent safety issues.
  • Highlight trends in accidents and food safety issues to clients and Account Managers, supporting continuous improvement.
  • Keep up to date with legislative changes and best practice, providing updates and guidance to clients and colleagues.
  • Deliver a smooth onboarding experience for RiskProof and associated services, including setup, data migration, system configuration and training where required.
  • Act as implementation support for complex projects, managing provisioning, scheduling and coordination to keep timelines on track and remove blockers.
  • Support with managing implementation workstack, drive status visibility and ensure timely delivery of tasks.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams to enhance customer awareness and service delivery.
  • Undertake ad hoc consultancy tasks as required, adapting to client needs and emerging issues to provide flexible, expert support.
  • Use insight from RiskProof activity, helpline cases, audits, investigations, onboarding discussions and compliance reviews to identify recurring issues, emerging risks and opportunities to improve client safety performance.
  • Produce proactive client improvement recommendations based on trend analysis, incident patterns, compliance gaps or technical insight, helping clients move beyond reactive issue management and strengthen ongoing risk control.
  • Identify client needs that may benefit from additional consultancy support and generate qualified consultancy opportunities.
Knowledge & Skills
  • BSc (Hons) or MSc (Hons) in Environmental Health
  • Registered EHP Status or working towards
  • Experience dealing with health & safety or risk/compliance solutions
  • Excellent report & communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to manage one’s own time effectively
  • Strong relationship building skills
  • IT literate and competent in MS Office 365
  • Flexible to travel throughout the UK when required
