We are looking for a highly motivated network engineer to help with operations, mature our processes, and drive our efforts to scale the company’s needs. This engineer will work with a US-based network team and will report to the Sr. Manager Enterprise Network Services. This position will report locally out of any of the SHI UK locations.

Role Description

  • Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes and security configurations.
  • Maintain network standards, policies, and best practices to ensure consistency, reliability, and security across the organization.
  • Collaborate with the cross-functional teams to identify and implement innovative network technologies and solutions that drive operational efficiency and business value.
  • Monitor network performance and proactively identify and resolve issues to minimise and ensure maximum uptime.
  • Use network tools for administration, maintenance, automation, and visualisation reporting.
  • Provide support services to customers for specific IT related issues.
  • Adhere to service management processes and procedures to meet customer service level agreements and maintain customer satisfaction.
  • Configure network equipment and execute changes while following standard operating procedures and change/release management policies.
  • Monitor specific IT service or set of services for availability and performance.
  • Support root cause analysis of network outages or incident trends.
  • Provide onsite support for network project implementations, LAN/WAN link connectivity, turn-ups, testing, etc.
  • You should possess a good analytical skillset with demonstrated troubleshooting ability.

Qualifications

  • Technical Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, NSE4-6, PCNSE, etc. are highly preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience working with the implementation of data and converged network infrastructure, including most of the following: 802.1x, vPC, VXLAN, STP/OSPF/BGP, LAN/WAN/Wireless protocols, Network Management tools, F5 Load Balancers, Virtual Private Networks (VPNs), Palo Alto Firewalls, Web Application Firewalls, and other network related technologies.
  • In-depth knowledge of Cisco IOS, NXOS, PANOS, STP, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, MPLS, VXLAN, access-lists.
  • Experience with Datacenter virtualisation technologies.
  • Experience with cloud (Azure or AWS) network/infrastructure technologies.
  • Experience with Cisco and similar VOIP telephony infrastructure.
  • Possess a thorough understanding of 802.11 wireless principles.
  • Strong ability to troubleshoot end-user device connectivity at a firewall level.
  • Knowledge of 802.1X and SAML/SSO implementation strategies.
  • You should possess excellent communication and client service skills, both written and oral.

Other Requirements

  • After hours or weekend work for service impacting changes or problems.
  • On call for networking emergencies.
  • This position will be working a hybrid/remote schedule with short-distance travel required to site offices.
  • This position is flexible and will report locally out of any of the SHI UK locations.

The estimated annual pay range for this position is £45,000 - £80,000 which includes a base salary and bonus. The compensation for this position is dependent on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location and, therefore, will vary from individual to individual.
