Invertek Drives is a fast-growing global organisation dedicated to the design and manufacture of market leading Variable Frequency Drives used in a wide variety of industrial applications. Based at our global headquarters and manufacturing facility in Welshpool, we are looking for a talented Senior Product Designer to join our Product Design Innovation team. This is an exciting opportunity where you join a growing team within R&D and focus on solving complex problems through a user focussed outlook. Working across multiple product categories you will develop highly inventive, insight-led solutions that truly resonate with end users.
Responsibilities:- Developing products that form the future direction of the company.
- Identifying opportunities for innovation through collaboration with colleagues across the business.
- Managing multiple projects from research through to commercially viable concept designs.
- Challenging the ordinary to create new and innovative designs.
- Using the latest in 3D printing technology to test and evaluate your designs.
- Inspiring others through a passion for design and excellence.
- Presenting ideas to Heads of Departments and the Senior Leadership Team.
- Delivering solutions in-line with the critical objectives of the company.
- An undergraduate (and/or masters) degree in Industrial Design or Product Design with a minimum of five years industry experience.
- A portfolio showing an inventive nature and evidence of turning ideas from a sketch into a commercially available product.
- Strong industrial design skills with a proven track record of success.
- Good attention to detail, with an organised and methodical approach.
- A creative thought process with a self-motivated drive to create excellent ideas.
- The ability to challenge conventional thinking, whilst working within constraints and keeping ideas commercially viable.
- A comprehensive understanding of manufacturing techniques and processes.
- Excellent knowledge of 3D and 2D design applications including Solidworks.
- Strong communication of ideas and the ability to present ideas with a natural flair and conviction.
- An ability to lead and inspire others, supporting and mentoring less experienced colleagues in the department.
- An ability to effectively manage time whilst working to tight critical paths on multiple projects.
- An adaptable, reliable character with the ability to easily engage with others.
