Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated network engineer to support and scale our operations. You will work with the US‑based network team, reporting to the Sr. Manager Enterprise Network Services, and will be based in any of the SHI UK locations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes and security configurations.
  • Maintain network standards, policies, and best practices to ensure consistency, reliability, and security across the organization.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to identify and implement innovative network technologies and solutions that drive operational efficiency and business value.
  • Monitor network performance and proactively identify and resolve issues to maximize uptime.
  • Use network tools for administration, maintenance, automation, and visualization reporting.
  • Provide support services to customers for specific IT related issues and adhere to service management processes to meet SLAs.
  • Configure network equipment and execute changes following standard operating procedures, change/release management policies.
  • Monitor specific IT services for availability and performance.
  • Support root cause analysis of network outages or incident trends.
  • Provide onsite support for network project implementations, LAN/WAN link connectivity, turn‑ups, testing, etc.

Qualifications

  • Technical certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, NSE‑4 to NSE‑6, PCNSE are highly preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience implementing data and converged network infrastructure, including 802.1x, vPC, VXLAN, STP/OSPF/BGP, VLAN/WLAN protocols, network management tools, F5 load balancers, VPNs, Palo Alto firewalls, WAFs, and other related technologies.
  • In‑depth knowledge of Cisco IOS, NX‑OS, PAN‑OS, STP, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, MPLS, VXLAN, access‑lists.
  • Experience with datacenter virtualization technologies.
  • Experience with cloud (Azure or AWS) network/infrastructure technologies.
  • Experience with Cisco and similar VOIP telephony infrastructure.
  • Thorough understanding of 802.11 wireless principles.
  • Strong ability to troubleshoot end‑user device connectivity at a firewall level.
  • Knowledge of 802.1X and SAML/SSO implementation strategies.
  • Excellent communication and client service skills, both written and oral.

Other Requirements

  • Availability for after‑hours or weekend work for service‑impacting changes or problems.
  • On‑call for networking emergencies.
  • Hybrid/remote schedule with short‑distance travel to site offices.

Compensation

The estimated annual pay range for this position is £45,000–£80,000, including base salary and bonus. Compensation depends on job‑related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location.
