The purpose of this post is to work effectively as a member of a team to support the delivery of a high-quality, safe, and balanced education and care service. This service should meet the needs of each child and their families and comply with relevant legislation and guidelines, including the Roles and Responsibilities Framework of the Scottish Social Service Council for the Childcare Workforce.

The post holder may be required to work in an early learning and childcare setting and an out-of-school club during the course of the day. The post involves supporting children aged 2–5 years in the early learning and childcare setting and school-aged children in the out-of-school club.

Brae High School is a non-denominational school located in Brae, Shetland. It offers early years, primary, and secondary education up to S6 for children from the north mainland of Shetland. The school comprises Early Years, P1-P7 (including composites), and S1-6 classes, with a total of 329 pupils: 174 secondary, 123 primary, and 32 in the nursery. The school is managed by a Head Teacher and two Depute Head Teachers. The current Head Teacher is Logan Nicolson.   • The grade of this post is F.
  • The salary includes a Distant Islands Allowance of £2,859 per annum (pro-rata).
  • This is a temporary full-time post: 37 hours per week, 52.18 weeks per year, until 31 March 2026.
  • Preferred candidates will be required to join the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update prior to a formal offer of employment.
  • The successful candidate must complete registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) upon starting.
  • No relocation package is available for this post.
  • Interview expenses will be paid from within Shetland.
  • We are open to discussing flexible working arrangements.
