The Contract Manager is responsible for the complete management of construction related capital projects. The Contract Manager will be responsible for the expenditure of all resources available to develop and implement statutory and non-statutory contractual responsibilities in relation to capital projects. The Contract Manager will have a key role in identifying and developing the long-term strategic approach to the provision of construction related contracts across the council.
The Contract Manager will be responsible for consultation and liaison with other services within the Council and all other third parties that contribute to the provision of successful construction contracts in Shetland. This will include full consultation with existing users of Council services, consultants, contractors and those seeking to access those services.
This vacancy is being advertised as a Career Graded post, which is a career development opportunity. This means that the Council is committed to supporting the successful candidate to obtain the necessary skills, abilities and knowledge to become fully competent in the role. The successful candidate will be supported to become fully competent in the role and progress through the career grade. Where there is a requirement to achieve a qualification, this will be fully funded by the Council.

- Salary shown in the advert is inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance of £2,997 per annum (pro rata).
- Permanent Full Time post for 37.0 Hours per Week, 52.18 weeks per year.
- A relocation package does not apply to this post.
- We will pay interview expenses from within Shetland.
- You must have the ability to travel throughout Shetland at short notice and where public transport is limited.
