Learning Support Worker - Early Learning & Childcare - Whiteness Primary School

Location: Whiteness Primary School, Whiteness, Shetland, ZE2 9LJ

Rate: £16.24 – £16.80 per hour (inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance of £1.4808 per hour)

Duration: Approximately 12 months, 39 weeks per year

To support the care, welfare, and education of children and young people with additional support needs (ASN) in accordance with relevant legislation, policy, and guidelines.

A Learning Support Worker may work with any child or group within a department, mainstream class, or early learning and childcare (ELC) setting. Responsibilities include working alongside or under guidance from teachers, following individualised education programmes (IEPs), and collaborating with professionals such as Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Educational Psychologists, and others.

Whiteness Primary School is a non-denominational school serving children from Whiteness, Weisdale, and surrounding areas, offering Early Years to P7 education. The school has 79 pupils, 3 teachers, and support staff, managed by Head Teacher Mrs. Rachel Colclough.

1. The pay rate includes the Distant Islands Allowance.
2. The post is part-time, temporary, for 22 hours/week, 39 weeks/year, for approximately 12 months.
