Under the direction of the Head Teacher, the Learning Support Assistant is expected to support the delivery of high quality primary education and learning which effectively meets the needs of children.

Sandness Primary School is a non-denominational school located in Sandness. It provides primary education from P1 to P7 for children from Sandness and surrounding areas. The structure of the school is 1 composite primary class. There is currently a total of 12 pupils on the roll. The school is managed by a Head Teacher (joint with Happyhansel). The current staffing complement is 1 teacher assisted by support staff as required to meet school demands. The current Head Teacher is Mrs Elizabeth Garrick.

  • The grade of this post is E/F
  • Please note that this job is not Career Graded. What this means is that a successful candidate would be employed as either a Qualified or Unqualified Learning Support Assistant. During the selection process, candidates will be assessed to determine whether they meet the person specification criteria of the qualified or unqualified Learning Support Assistant role. This would determine the salary/rate of pay, as well as what duties would be expected of the post holder during their employment. The Job Profile documents at the end of this advertisement describe the qualified and unqualified roles in more detail.
  • Rate of pay shown in the advert is inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance of £1.4808 per hour
  • Permanent Part Time post for 16.5 Hours per Week, 45.24 weeks per year
  • The current hours are spread across Monday – Thursday.
  • Preferred candidates will be required to join the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update prior to a formal offer of employment being made
