In a challenging and varied role, you will provide effective housing management and allocation service for all Shetland Islands Council’s housing stock and for the provision of services to homeless people.Your responsibilities will include undertaking all required work in relation to tenancy management, homelessness, application management and tenant participation, including carrying out comprehensive assessments of housing need and providing housing advice and information across all tenures to a wide variety of audiences.As the successful candidate, you will need to have a professional approach, clear customer focus and be capable of working both independently and as part of a team. You will have a strong and demonstrable understanding of people from diverse cultural backgrounds and a desire to establish a good rapport and understanding of their needs.You should also have experience in Housing Management or related discipline, e.g. Health Service, Social Work, Community Work; other front line public service.This vacancy is being advertised as a **Career Graded post, which is a career development opportunity.** This means that the Council is committed to supporting the successful candidate to obtain the necessary skills, abilities and knowledge to become fully competent in the role.
