Overview

Senior Human Resources Advisor role at Sherwin-Williams. The position provides first-line HR support for a workforce of approximately 660 non-manufacturing employees across multiple UK sites, delivering timely advice to managers on day-to-day people issues.

Primarily based at Knottingley (mandatory 1 day per week), with flexibility to also work from Sheffield or Bolton. The role requires a minimum of 3 days per week in the office with hybrid flexibility.

Responsibilities

  • Provide first-line HR advice to managers on high-volume transactional issues: sickness, absence, capability, performance management, disciplinary matters, and investigations.
  • Manage queries triaged from a junior HR Advisor, ensuring timely and accurate responses.
  • Draft contracts, support right-to-work checks, and coordinate recruitment administration.
  • Engage with managers (up to Director level) across multiple divisions, providing clear, concise HR guidance.
  • Maintain knowledge of employment legislation and ensure advice aligns with company policies.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities to streamline HR processes and upskill line managers.
  • Collaborate with HR Business Partners and ER Managers, escalating complex cases when necessary.

Skills and experience

  • Proven HR generalist or ER advisory experience within a large corporate or multinational environment.
  • Strong understanding of UK employment law and ability to apply policy in practice.
  • Highly organised, process-driven, and comfortable handling a high caseload.
  • Clear and concise communicator, confident in both written and verbal interactions with stakeholders.
  • comfortable balancing transactional workload with opportunities to contribute to HR process improvement.
  • CIPD qualification is preferred but not essential, provided the candidate can demonstrate strong advisory-level knowledge and experience.
  • Must be mobile (driving licence required) to attend different sites as needed.
