Salary : Β£45,000 – Β£52,000 Depending on relevant experience

Hours : 37.5 hours per week, full-time, all year round

An established education provider is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to support the efficient operation of school finances. This role will provide financial leadership, oversee finance staff, ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, and deliver accurate accounting, reporting, and audit preparation.

This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional with strong experience in schools, education, or similar environments.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Operations & Reporting

  • Manage and oversee the daily work of finance staff.
  • Support preparation for the annual audit and assist with completion of financial statements across all associated entities.
  • Carry out bank reconciliations, general ledger reconciliations, and intercompany reconciliations.
  • Ensure all costs are allocated correctly and accounting procedures follow statutory requirements.
  • Complete and support management accounts, ad hoc reports, and internal / external financial submissions.

Compliance & Regulatory Duties

  • Ensure compliance with tax, charity and education regulations at all times.
  • Handle quarterly VAT returns, regulatory statistical returns, and payroll administration including year-end tasks, P11Ds and reporting.
  • Administer Teachers’ Pensions including all related reporting and audit requirements.
  • Manage insurance claims and support annual renewals.

Systems & Process Improvement

  • Ensure efficient use of ICT resources and accounting systems and help develop improved finance processes.

Person Requirements

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Experience managing accounts and financial processes within a diverse financial environment.
  • Strong understanding of finance systems, accounting procedures, and financial control.
  • Excellent IT skills, especially Microsoft Excel (Intermediate / advanced) and Word.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to work with complex financial data.
  • Excellent communication skills and confident working with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to work independently with great attention to detail.

Qualifications

Recognised accounting qualification OR significant experience in a school / education finance environment.

Desirable : ACCA, CIMA or ACA.

  • Flexible approach to tasks as required
