Shero Talent Consultancy is recruiting an experienced, hands-on Factory Manager for an established architectural and sheet-metal fabrication company based in Earls Colne. Operating from a factory of approximately 25,000 sq. ft. and turning over around £10 million, this is a key leadership position responsible for managing a team of approximately 15–20 skilled fabricators and welders.
Key responsibilities:
- Managing the day-to-day operation of the factory
- Leading, organising and motivating the fabrication team
- Planning production schedules and preparing upcoming work
- Ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently and on time
- Reading and interpreting technical drawings
- Monitoring workmanship and completing quality checks
- Allocating labour, materials and equipment effectively
- Coordinating transport, deliveries and collections
- Maintaining high standards of health and safety
- Working closely with senior management and project teams
- Identifying and resolving production issues before they cause delays
The ideal candidate will have:
- A minimum of 5–10 years’ experience managing a sizeable factory or fabrication operation
- A strong background in architectural metalwork, sheet metal, mild steel, welding or fabrication
- Previous experience managing teams of fabricators and welders
- Excellent production-planning and organisational skills
- The ability to understand technical and fabrication drawings
- Strong knowledge of quality control and factory processes
- A hands-on, committed and dependable management style
- Flexibility to work additional hours or occasional weekends when projects require it
