Role Overview
The Accounts Assistant will support the day-to-day financial operations of the business. This role is ideal for someone looking to develop their accounting career within a fast-paced, operationally focused environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Accounts Payable
- Process supplier invoices accurately and in a timely manner
- Match purchase orders, delivery notes, and invoices
- Prepare payment runs and reconcile supplier statements
- Handle supplier queries and maintain strong relationships
- Accounts Receivable
- Raise and issue customer invoices
- Monitor customer accounts and follow up on outstanding payments
- Allocate incoming payments and reconcile discrepancies
- Banking & Reconciliation
- Perform daily bank reconciliations
- Post and reconcile cash receipts and payments
- Assist with cash flow tracking
- General Finance Support
- Assist with month-end processes, including journal entries and accruals
- Maintain accurate financial records and filing systems
- Support audits and provide documentation as required
- Assist in payroll administration
Key Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in an accounts or finance role
- Understanding of basic accounting principles
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Good organisational and time management skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., Sage, Xero, or similar)
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively
Qualifications
- AAT qualification (or studying towards) is desirable but not essential
- GCSEs (or equivalent) including Maths and English
