Sheridan Maine is seeking an experienced and commercially minded Financial Controller to lead the finance function within a growing business. This is a key senior role responsible for ensuring robust financial control, accurate reporting, and providing strategic financial insight to support operational and commercial decision-making across projects. The successful candidate will work closely with senior management to ensure strong financial governance, effective cashflow management, and continuous improvement of financial processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the preparation of monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet and cashflow reporting
- Ensure timely and accurate year-end statutory accounts and liaison with external auditors
- Maintain strong balance sheet control, including reconciliations and working capital management
- Lead the annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes
- Prepare and manage detailed cashflow forecasts
- Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team
- Drive improvements in financial systems, processes, and reporting
Skills & Experience Required
- Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent)
- Proven experience as a Financial Controller or senior finance role
- Excellent cashflow management and commercial finance skills
- Confident user of accounting systems and advanced Excel
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management abilities
- Hands-on, proactive, and solutions-focused approach
