Sheridan Maine is supporting a leading energy organisation in the recruitment of an Interim Project Accountant to join a small, focused finance team. This is an exciting opportunity to manage the statutory accounts and audit process, ensuring deadlines are met and supporting the year‑end close.

Key Responsibilities of the Project Accountant:

  • Prepare statutory accounts for multiple entities in line with FRS102, processing annual adjustments as required.
  • Prepare group consolidated accounts, including accounting for acquisitions and disposals, with all associated notes and disclosures.
  • Support and finalise the annual audit, ensuring deadlines are met, bank covenants are maintained, and audit queries are responded to promptly.
  • Prepare accounting papers and memorandums in line with internal finance policies to support complex accounting transactions.
  • Ensure accuracy of year‑end financial statements using accounting software and relevant systems.
  • Liaise with external tax advisors to maintain compliance, including tax filings, year‑end tax provisions, and deferred tax.
  • Prepare financial statements for external reporting, including IXBRL tagging where required.

To succeed in the role of Project Accountant your skills will include:

  • Fully qualified (ACCA, ACA, or equivalent) with at least 5 years post‑qualified experience.
  • Previous experience in a similar role, ideally within a multi‑entity group.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to propose practical solutions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise across teams and with external stakeholders.

This role offers flexible working arrangements, allowing you to be in the London office 4 or 5 days per week, with the option to work from home when needed. It’s an ideal opportunity for professionals seeking a balanced schedule while contributing to a high‑profile, hands‑on finance function.
