The Company
Sheridan Maine is partnering with a growing and professional accountancy practice in New Eltham to recruit a Practice Manager. This is a pivotal role ensuring the smooth day-to-day operations of the firm, supporting clients and staff, and driving business efficiency and growth.
The Role
The Practice Manager will oversee operational workflows, client services, and compliance, working closely with partners to support strategic planning and the delivery of high-quality accounting, tax, and audit services. This role is ideal for an experienced, proactive, and qualified accountant with strong audit knowledge, ideally already an RI or working towards RI status.
The Practice Manager will be responsible for:
- Overseeing daily operations to ensure efficient workflows and client service.
- Supporting partners with strategic planning, financial performance, and business growth.
- Managing client onboarding, queries, and relationships.
- Preparing or managing preparation of accounts, VAT, corporate and self-assessment tax returns.
- Overseeing audit assignments and ensuring compliance with professional standards.
- Managing, mentoring, and developing junior staff.
- Monitoring key financial KPIs, WIP, billing cycles, and debtors.
- Maintaining operational policies, procedures, and regulatory compliance.
The successful Practice Manager will possess:
- Qualified ACCA or ICAEW accountant.
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in practice, with strong audit knowledge.
- Experience managing staff, clients, and operational processes.
- Excellent organisational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Highly proactive, detail-oriented, and commercially aware.
- RI status or a clear ambition to achieve it.
Salary & Benefits
Competitive salary £65,000 + bonus. Full-time, permanent, in-office role. Excellent benefits including pension, private medical, and discretionary bonuses.
