Sheridan Maine is delighted to be working with an established accounting firm based in the High Wycombe area, which is looking to recruit an experienced Senior Accountant to join its team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced practice accountant looking for a varied role with responsibility for a portfolio of clients and exposure across accounts, tax and general accountancy services.

The Role
As Senior Accountant, you will work closely with clients and the wider team, taking responsibility for delivering a high-quality service across a varied portfolio.

Your key responsibilities as Senior Accountant will include:

  • Managing a portfolio of clients, acting as a key point of contact and building strong working relationships.
  • Preparing statutory and management accounts for a range of businesses.
  • Preparing and reviewing corporation tax and personal tax returns.
  • Supporting clients with day-to-day accounting queries and providing practical financial guidance.
  • Assisting with VAT returns and other compliance requirements.
  • Reviewing accounts and tax work prepared by junior members of the team, where appropriate.
  • Liaising directly with clients to obtain information, resolve queries and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Supporting Partners and senior colleagues with more complex accounting and tax matters.
  • Identifying opportunities to provide additional support and value to clients.
  • Assisting with the development and mentoring of more junior members of the team.

The successful Senior Accountant will ideally have:

  • Several years' experience within a UK accountancy practice.
  • Strong experience in accounts preparation, including statutory accounts.
  • Good knowledge of corporation and personal taxation.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • A proactive and commercially minded approach.
  • A recognised accountancy qualification such as ACA or ACCA, or be qualified by relevant experience.
  • Experience with accounting software such as Xero, Sage, QuickBooks or similar would be advantageous.
