Sheridan Maine is seeking an experienced and reliable Payroll Manager to take ownership of the end-to-end payroll function at a well-established accountancy practice in Hertfordshire. This is a great opportunity for someone with a strong understanding of payroll legislation who enjoys leading a process-driven and accurate payroll service.
You will be responsible for managing payroll operations, ensuring compliance with HMRC regulations, and delivering timely and accurate pay to employees.
Key responsibilities:- Manage and process end-to-end payroll for weekly and monthly pay cycles.
- Ensure accurate calculation of pay, pensions, statutory deductions, and benefits.
- Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with all HMRC requirements.
- Handle payroll queries and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Oversee year-end processes including P60s and P11Ds.
- Keep up to date with changes in payroll legislation and systems.
- Collaborate with HR and Finance teams on payroll-related matters.
- Proven experience in a standalone or managerial payroll role.
- Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation and best practices.
- Experience with payroll software such as Sage Payroll, ADP, or similar.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a UK accountancy role.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage deadlines and work independently.
- Salary of £40,000 – £50,000 depending on experience.
