“Whichever party is in office; the Treasury is in power."  Harold Wilson. Sheridan Maine are looking for a highly motivated and commercially aware Treasury specialist, to join a phenomenally successful, global business in the role of Deputy Treasurer. This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute significantly to the management of group-wide treasury operations, support strategic financial decision-making, and ensure effective risk management in a fast-paced commercial environment.Reporting to the Group Treasurer, in this broad role you will lead the daily treasury function, focusing on optimising cash flow, managing banking relationships, and supporting the group’s funding, liquidity, and foreign exchange strategies.Key Responsibilities as the Deputy Treasurer:
  • Support the Group Treasurer in shaping and executing the overall treasury strategy.
  • Lead daily cash and liquidity management, ensuring efficient utilisation of funds.
  • Manage and nurture relationships with banks and financial institutions, including negotiation and compliance with facility agreements.
  • Oversee foreign exchange and interest rate risk management, including the development and monitoring of hedging strategies.
  • Support debt issuance and refinancing, as well as covenant reporting processes.
  • Ensure treasury activities are compliant with internal controls, regulatory standards, and industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with internal teams such as finance, tax, legal, and commercial departments on business initiatives and capital projects.
  • Lead, mentor, and support the development of junior treasury team members.

The ideal Deputy Treasurer will have/be:

  • Professionally qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) or ACT-qualified treasury professional.
  • Strong experience in a corporate treasury environment or financial institution, ideally within a large or listed company.
  • In-depth knowledge of cash management, financial markets, FX and interest rate risk, and banking products.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across departments and senior stakeholders.
  • Proficient in treasury systems and financial tools.
