Sheridan Maine is partnering with a well-established accountancy practice to recruit a Senior Accounts Manager. This is a hands-on, client-facing role with real variety and exposure, offering the chance to manage your own portfolio, deliver high-quality accounting and advisory services, and support the growth and development of junior team members.

The Role

  • Managing a portfolio of clients, including SMEs and owner-managed businesses.
  • Acting as the main point of contact and trusted adviser for clients.
  • Reviewing statutory accounts, management accounts, and tax compliance prepared by junior staff.
  • Preparing accounts and tax for complex clients where required.
  • Ensuring all work is delivered on time, to a high standard, and in line with UK accounting and regulatory standards.
  • Liaising with HMRC and other external bodies as needed.
  • Mentoring, supervising, and supporting junior team members to help them develop professionally.
  • Supporting partners with advisory projects, client onboarding, and practice development initiatives.

The successful Senior Accounts Manager will possess:

  • ACA / ACCA (or equivalent) qualified.
  • Proven experience working in an accountancy practice as a Senior Accounts Manager or similar role.
  • Strong technical knowledge of statutory accounts, tax compliance, and practice workflows.
  • Experience managing client relationships and acting as a trusted adviser.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to supervise, mentor, and develop junior staff effectively.
  • Commercially minded with a proactive, client-focused approach.
