About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and proactive legal professional to join our Private Client team, specialising in Trusts and Tax matters. This role involves providing expert advice and services related to trust administration, personal tax compliance, and estate planning. You'll play a key role in supporting high-net-worth individuals, families, and trustees.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a personal caseload effectively, ensuring high levels of client service and professional standards.
- Meet billing and time-recording targets, maintain accurate file records, and manage work-in-progress and aged debtors.
- Monitor and communicate with clients regularly, rendering interim and final bills as appropriate.
- Collaborate with internal teams to cross-sell legal services and develop business opportunities.
- Contribute to the team’s ongoing development by mentoring support staff and participating in training and networking events.
- Advise on and complete Trust Registration Service filings and annual declarations.
- Prepare and submit Trust and Individual Tax Returns, including associated forms (e.g., R185s, IHT100s).
- Handle estate income reporting and CGT submissions for property disposals.
- Draft trust documents such as Deeds of Appointment, Assignments, and Trustees’ Resolutions.
- Assist in preparing trust accounts and liaising with investment advisers.
- Advise on FATCA/CRS obligations and other compliance requirements.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience in Private Client work, with a strong focus on Trusts and Tax.
- Ability to handle complex matters with discretion and attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office (particularly Word and Excel).
- A proactive, organised, and collaborative working style.
- Relevant qualifications such as STEP, ATT, CTA, or solicitor/legal executive status preferred but not essential.
