Sheridan Maine are seeking an experienced and proactive Finance Manager to join a charitable team on a fixed-term basis through to November 2025. This role is crucial in maintaining the accuracy of financial data and supporting a busy finance function during a critical period, including year-end processes and a finance system implementation.
Your responsibilities as the Finance Manager will include:
- Ensure accuracy of all financial transactions within the finance system, maintaining compliance with internal authorisation and control procedures.
- Oversee and support a small team of three junior finance staff, including performance management, one-to-one meetings, coaching, and review of work.
- Lead the preparation for year-end audit, including compiling and reviewing schedules and liaising with external auditors.
- Support the delivery of reconciliations and adjustments to ensure accurate month-end and year-end reporting.
- Review and authorise financial transactions with a strong attention to detail.
- Manage the audit timetable in collaboration with the Finance Director and coordinate all necessary documentation and communication with auditors.
- Support VAT return preparation and review.
- Balance hands-on involvement in day-to-day tasks with effective delegation to team members.
- Navigate multiple concurrent deadlines and priorities, including the ongoing finance system implementation.
Required Experience as the Finance Manager:
- Professionally qualified or qualified by experience.
- Proven experience in running audits and preparing audit documentation.
- Solid experience preparing financial accounts and performing month-end checks and reconciliations.
- Experience managing and developing junior team members.
- Familiarity with charity accounting principles and knowledge of charity VAT is also beneficial.
