I am on the hunt for a Project Design Manager is responsible to manage a team responsible for complete design delivery for their assigned projects, ensuring excellence in execution and meeting client expectations.

Key Responsibilities Leadership & Mentoring

  • Lead and inspire the design team through all stages of the project.

  • Act as the primary point of contact for client design management.

  • Mentor and develop (trainee) project engineers during the design phase.

Design Management

  • Create and manage design programmes aligned with overall project timelines.

  • Monitor and manage design deliverables, change management, and variations.

  • Oversee the creation of models, calculations, drawings, and schedules to ensure they meet internal systems and client standards.

  • Manage BIM deliverables, ensuring compliance with client BIM Execution Plans.

  • Ensure the safe construction of works through effective management of CDM and temporary works requirements.

  • Support the Pre-Construction team during early project stages as needed.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and project teams.

  • Facilitate clear communication of project objectives to all stakeholders.

  • Conduct weekly project design meetings and hold key stage design reviews.

  • Work closely with the commercial team to manage scope changes and avoid surprises.

  • Represent the design team in project meetings, reporting on progress and quality.

Strategic Contributions

  • Define and monitor the project s design delivery strategy in collaboration with the Design Director and Project Manager.

  • Ensure lessons learned are documented and improvements fed back into the business.

Reporting & Quality

  • Produce weekly design reports for clients and internal stakeholders.

  • Track design outputs, programme updates, and resource allocations.

  • Ensure all design documents meet quality standards and are thoroughly checked.

  • Ensure all digital model data is accurate and complete.

  • Proven experience in managing design teams and processes.

  • Expertise in balancing commercial, programme, and technical requirements.

  • Strong understanding of current legislation, standards, and codes of practice.

  • Proficient in BIM strategy and best practices.

  • Commitment to eliminating Health and Safety risks in design.

  • Exhibits professionalism, integrity, and adherence to core values.
