The Sherborne Schools Group is seeking to appoint an outstanding Director of Hockey to lead and shape hockey across Sherborne Girls, Sherborne School and Sherborne Prep. Hockey sits at the heart of the Group’s sporting offer and is identified as a key pathway sport. This role offers a rare opportunity to influence the direction of hockey across multiple schools, developing a clear, ambitious and joined-up programme that supports participation at every level while driving excellence for those with the talent and ambition to progress.
Working across the Group, the Director of Hockey will set the strategic vision for the sport, establish coaching standards and oversee the delivery of a coherent player pathway from Prep through to Senior School. Close collaboration with each school’s Director of Sport will be central to ensuring that this shared vision is realised in a way that reflects the character and strengths of each individual school.
The successful candidate will be passionate about developing young players, committed to high-quality coaching, and confident in building strong links with clubs, counties and governing bodies. Alongside coaching, the role includes mentoring and supporting staff, identifying and nurturing talent, and creating an environment in which pupils of all abilities enjoy hockey and feel encouraged to keep playing.
