We are currently recruiting for a Duty Maintenance Engineer to join the team here at The Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa, Edinburgh. The Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa is one of Scotland's leading 5 star hotels. As the largest 5 star hotel, we also have the biggest banqueting and meeting facilities of any hotel in Edinburgh with a capacity of up to 500 as well as our award winning ONE SPA and our One Square Restaurant and bar.

You will take part in the Duty Engineer shift rota providing 24/7 cover where a mixture of day and night shift is a requirement of the role.

Role

The Duty Engineer is responsible for the delivery of 1st fix maintenance as requested throughout the property, planned preventative maintenance schedules, and the undertaking of designated Health & Safety duties across the hotel and spa. In addition, our ideal candidate is expected to have knowledge and where necessary assist in all other general FM tasks, as directed by management.

Responsibilities
  • React to requests to assess and repair where possible, faults with all aspects of the buildings including HVAC, lighting & small power issues, plumbing problems, pool plant and thermal suite.
  • Communication to ensure accurate record keeping is maintained for reporting.
  • Undertake and record regular Planned Preventative Maintenance and Health & Safety schedules to include monthly emergency lighting testing, tap/shower head descaling, lighting checks, temperature checks of water systems as specified in the site Water Risk Assessment, fire alarm testing, fire equipment checks, meter readings, running generator, pool plant etc.
  • Carry out Health & Safety testing to include the Control of Legionella.
  • Take ownership of designated role as part of the Hotel emergency evacuation procedure.
Requirements

We are looking for someone who is energetic and self-motivated and who is ready to take the next step on your career path. Ideally you will have at least 2 years’ experience within a similar environment. You will be expected to work a mixture of day shift and night shift within this role.

  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Must have previous experience of working in a maintenance environment, preferably Hotels, 2-3 years minimum.
  • Required to complete all required relevant documentation including: inspection results, surveys, work orders and reporting systems; knowledge of H&S procedures e.g. COSHH, Risk Assessments and safe systems of work.
  • Awareness of Energy Management and the requirement to run systems efficiently and cost effectively.
  • Must have a good level and understanding of Health & Safety.
  • Previous Fire Warden trained.
  • Pool Plant experience. Pool plant operator qualified preferable.
  • Understanding and awareness of HVAC systems with the ability to fault find and resolve.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Fire alarm and sprinkler systems.
  • Good all round knowledge of electrical distribution and fault finding; 17th edition wiring regulations qualified preferable.
  • BMS experience. The ability to fault find and the awareness carry out alterations to improve the office environment.
  • Knowledge of system drawings, O&M manuals and other relevant documentation and procedures.
  • Requires understanding and using various hand tools, electrical tools, and test and inspection equipment.

>
