As Leisure Manager, you are responsible for effectively managing the Leisure/Health Club to maintain brand standards and achieve key revenue and financial targets in line with the company budget. Through positive leadership of the Leisure team, you will create and promote a culture that aligns with operational excellence, health and safety, and best practice standards.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Product & Operations
    • Ensure the Club is always presented to a high standard by overseeing daily, weekly, and monthly checks.
    • Screen all potential Club users using approved procedures, including the Clubwise Membership System and Health Commitment Statement (HCS).
    • Conduct and manage fitness programmes to promote member behaviour change and maximise Personal Training opportunities.
    • Deliver a Group Exercise programme tailored to the Clubs demographic and member needs, maintaining brand standards.
    • Oversee daily, weekly, and monthly management processes in line with Company Policy and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Team Leadership
    • Train and develop team members to ensure they have the skills to progress within the company and achieve their personal career goals.
    • Organise and maintain legal training requirements, ensuring team members hold First Aid and Pool Responder qualifications.
    • Review team member performance regularly, conduct initial job chats, and complete all six monthly and annual appraisals as scheduled.
    • Coach, support, and foster a positive, can-do attitude across the team.
    • Promote a culture of recognition and celebrate outstanding performance.
  • Financial Management
    • Achieve revenue and profit targets in line with the clubs budget.
    • Set and deliver on key business objectives, monitor financial performance daily, weekly, and monthly, and take corrective actions as needed.
    • Provide accurate weekly and monthly figures to the Hotel Operations Manager.
    • Submit KPIs and Membership Administration Tracker to Group Operations as required.
  • Self-Management
    • Adhere to all hotel/club rules, company policies, grooming standards, timekeeping, and attendance requirements.
    • Actively participate in training programmes to support your own development.
    • Lead by example to create an environment where every member is treated like a guest in our home.
  • Commercial Focus
    • Implement central marketing plans to increase new member sales and membership headcount.
    • Drive local marketing initiatives to strengthen the Clubs community presence.
    • Manage the Clubwise enquiry/prospect system to fully utilise data capture and follow-up.
    • Oversee the Clubwise membership system to support retention and secondary revenue.
    • Maintain member retention through SOPs, retention tools, and the atHOME programme.
    • Increase secondary revenue streams (e.g., Health & Beauty, Retail, F&B, Personal Training) through effective promotion and aftercare.
    • Attend scheduled conference calls and review and implement weekly briefs.
  • Health & Safety
    • Demonstrate understanding and compliance with all health, hygiene, and fire safety policies.
    • Be familiar with emergency and evacuation procedures.
    • Log security incidents, accidents, and near misses promptly.
    • Take a proactive approach to operational and facility maintenance and escalate issues where needed.
    • Maintain pool plant operations and water hygiene following SOPs.
    • Support the clubs Sustainable Safety Group (SSG) audit process.
  • General Responsibilities
    • Oversee daily, weekly, and monthly club administration processes.
    • Comply with the companys code of conduct and represent the club professionally at all times.
    • Commit to ongoing learning and development.
    • Work effectively with colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
    • Maintain open and regular communication with the General Manager and Group Administration.
    • Deliver on specific objectives as agreed.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Recognised Health & Fitness Industry Qualification (Essential)
  • Pool Plant Operators Qualification Level 2+ (Desirable)
  • Pool Responder or higher Pool Water Safety Qualification (Desirable)
  • First Aid at Work Qualification (Desirable)
  • Register of Exercise Professionals Level 3 or above (Essential)
  • Proven success in a similar Club Manager, Deputy, Operations Manager, or Senior Fitness/Supervisory role
