Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Practice Nurse to join our enthusiastic team of nurses. We are looking for someone who is motivated and enjoys working as part of a team. Previous experience within a GP practice is essential. The vacancy is full time but would consider 28‑35 hours with flexibility to cover sickness and holidays.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide excellent patient care.
  • Treatment room skills including chronic disease management (ideally asthma and COPD), immunisation, screening and health promotion.
  • Participate in setting standards for care and auditing clinical outcomes.
  • Promote and participate in maintaining a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment.
  • Develop and implement health promotion programmes for clients and carers and facilitate screening clinics.
  • Take responsibility for the safe storage and administration of drugs and equipment.
  • Ensure evidence‑based practice and monitor standards for effective care delivery.
  • Provide information, advice and support to patients face‑to‑face and via telephone.
  • Engage in team discussions to ensure best practice.

About you

  • Registered General Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.
  • Able to work in a changing environment and implement change when applicable to provide high‑quality health care.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and decision‑making skills clinically.
  • Aware of local and national health policy.
  • PC skills; experience with EMIS Web and basic use of Word, Excel and e‑mail.
  • Highly motivated and flexible.

Requirements

  • Primary Care experience is essential.
  • Current registration with the NMC.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.
  • Primary Care Nursing experience, minimum of 3 years.
  • Experience in managing long‑term conditions (desirable).
  • COPD and Asthma training qualification (desirable).
