Our breadth of services for our clients ranges from annual tax compliance right through to more complex tax planning, such as shareholder exit planning, Inheritance Tax/Wealth Succession, business and investment structuring, international clients (domicile/residence), family office and charities/trusts. We act for a number of leading entrepreneurs and household names predominantly in the Northwest, but also across the UK.

What will you be doing? Our tax team provides advice to a wide range of individuals, including ultra-high net worth individuals, families, entrepreneurs as well as owner-managed businesses. We provide practical advice with our clients' best interests always at the forefront of what we do. Working closely with our senior tax professionals, you'll feel yourself improving day by day as they teach you the intricacies of their trade. One moment you could be helping with a transaction as an entrepreneur sells their business: the next, looking at wealth succession.

As our trainee your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparation of personal tax returns including drafting client communication.
  • Assisting with research assignments and drafting technical documentation.
  • Supporting senior members of staff on more complex client queries.
  • Involvement in client meetings and calls from day one.

We believe that hands-on experience is key to creating well-rounded trusted business advisers - this means you'll be doing real work from the start. Working as a team and delivering to clients is the most important part of what we enjoy doing. Full training support for ICAEW Chartered Accountant qualification will be provided. We also offer flexible working.

Requirements:

  • Committed and motivated to studying towards the ICAEW Chartered Accountant qualification.
  • GCSE English Language and Maths (or equivalent) at a minimum of grade 5.
  • 120 UCAS points (or equivalent) in your top three A levels (excluding General Studies).
  • Must have or be on course for at least a 2:1 honours degree in any discipline.

The team have all worked in “Big 4” accountancy firms for the majority of their careers, and they have gained a huge amount of experience, not just in relation to private clients and tax, but in the wider commercial world.
