The team

The property and infrastructure division are currently recruiting for a Professional Support Lawyer (PSL) to support their Scottish Real Estate team. The successful candidate will provide support and advice to maintain leading edge knowledge, documentation and expertise to deliver effective client services. This will include managing knowledge through online resources and the teams own expertise whilst supporting learning and training as and when required.

The Knowledge Management Specialist role is an additional responsibility within the Professional Support Lawyer role. Its main purpose is to support the Head of Knowledge and Service Delivery with firmwide Knowledge Management responsibilities. The successful candidate will be expected to devote two days per week to this aspect of the role.

The role

PSL

Knowledge Management

  • Managing knowledge and maintaining all Scottish Property Online (SPO) material. Overall responsibility for resource to profile and process any contributions
  • Harvest valuable knowledge from fee earners and establish an ongoing approach / procedure for capturing this knowledge.

Online Services

  • Setting up online accounts for client eservices

Precedents and Styles

  • Introducing, drafting and updating precedents and guides / manuals
  • Request and collect useful styles regularly and update accordingly

Learning and Training

  • Assist with preparation and testing of automated property documents
  • Assist with all property training sessions
  • Support all property trainee sessions / inductions
  • Assist with all property and infrastructure training, assistant training and paralegal property training

Business Development / Marketing

  • Regular liaison with Business Development and marketing functions as and when required
  • Administer and edit any website articles and encourage regular production

Knowledge Manager

Knowledge system

  • Work as part of the central team to roll out the firm’s new knowledge system
  • Ongoing responsibility to monitor usage; and monitor submissions and approval processes for precedents, know how and other knowledge in the knowledge system
  • Ongoing role to enhance and improve the firm’s knowledge system, including the user experience, taxonomy and general findability of knowledge

Liaison with practice and sector groups

  • Work with knowledge champions and PSLs from the firm’s practice and sector groups to understand their knowledge priorities and encourage an appropriate focus on knowledge management
  • Organise and chair quarterly meetings of the firm’s knowledge champions group

Knowledge strategy and governance

  • Work with the Head of Knowledge and Service Delivery to identify and progress KM priorities in line with the firm’s general and AI strategies

Learning and Development

  • Represent Knowledge Management on the firm’s Learning and Development committee
  • Assist the Head of Knowledge and Service Delivery in dealing with CPD queries, assessing training needs and organising training programmes
