We’re seeking a skilled, part-qualified Assistant Accountant at our Cleckheaton office. This is an amazing opportunity to enter the Shenward career pathway at a professional level whilst continuing with your qualifications. And we’ll be with you every step of the way.

Criteria
  • Proficient in the use of Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, Dext, Outlook and Excel.
  • Must have knowledge of double entry, VAT and UK tax laws.
  • Must have good communication skills to deal with clients and be a team player.
  • Must be able to work independently – there is support available from Accountants and Client Manager.
  • Be confident to speak with clients in person or virtually.
Experience
  • Min 1 years’ experience in the same/similar role.
  • Previous experience within a UK accountancy practice is preferred.
Qualification status
  • Qualified by experience (QBE)
  • AAT part of fully qualified
Main duties will include:
  • Manage and interact with your own portfolio of clients to ensure monthly bookkeeping is done to high standards.
  • General daily bookkeeping tasks, maintaining a detailed sales ledger, preparing supplier payment runs, bank/credit card reconciliation.
  • Ensuring items are processed correctly into the client’s books.
  • Monthly/quarterly management reports preparation and preparing VAT returns.
  • Responding and actioning emails in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Supporting clients in their journey to making tax digital.
  • Supporting practice and senior accountants with year-end accounts and tax return preparation for sole traders, partnerships, LLP and Limited companies.
  • Support team with administration.
