About Shendish Manor Hotel and Golf Club. We are a beautiful Hotel based near Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire. The 70 bedroom Hotel is set in 160 acres stunning grounds which means its wedding trade is very strong, as well as hosting many other functions such as parties, conferences and fun days, also with a busy Restaurant.

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and passionate individual to join our kitchen team as Junior Sous Chef. The ideal Junior Sous Chef will have industry experience, be confident leading a team and will take responsibility alongside the Head Chef for the smooth delivery of the overall food operations within the hotel.

Job Duties for Junior Sous Chef:
  • Assist the Head Chef/ Sous Chef in planning and directing food preparation activities.
  • Supervise kitchen staff, providing guidance and support to ensure efficient operations.
  • Ensure that all food safety and hygiene standards are maintained at all times.
  • Prepare and cook high-quality dishes according to established recipes and presentation standards.
  • Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering supplies as needed.
  • Train new kitchen staff on cooking techniques, safety protocols, and kitchen procedures.
  • Collaborate with the Head Chef to develop new menu items and improve existing offerings.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience in a similar role within a restaurant environment.
  • Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, culinary arts, and kitchen management.
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team effectively.
